MGS on LittleBigPlanet

Hey folks, I'm finally back after a crazy semester..

Anyway, the official PlayStation Blog has revealed that the next DLC for LittleBigPlanet are a new Costume Pack of 4 new sackboys ([Old] Snake, Meryl, Raiden & Psycho Mantis) from the Metal Gear Solid universe and an exclusive Level Pack that consists of the following:
  • 3 new background music tracks
  • 1 new interactive music track
  • 1 new Metal Gear Solid themed ‘sound object’
  • New Plasma Ball ‘danger element’
  • New Laser Sight ‘gadget’
  • New functioning Searchlight lamp – for those special ‘exclamation mark’ moments
  • …and finally, the piece de resistance…THE PAINTINATOR (and Paint Switch).

Gears of War 2 DLC On The Horizon

Creator Cliff Blesinski has announced that the first line of downloadble content for Gears of War 2 will arrive shortly after the game's release. He spoke with Xbox 360 Fanboy and revealed that Epic Game's is working on the DLC and that it will be "multiplayer map focused". CliffyB has also stated that a new pop-up feature will indicate the player's recent actions could lead him/her to a possible acheivement! Check the site for more details!

Face-Melters for This Week's Rock Band DLC

Harmonix has released the Roadrunner 6 Pack for Rock Band's weekly downloadable content. This pack contains a variety of hardcore metal tracks that will make your face melt just playing 'em. Here's the content list:

RoadRunner 6 Pack - $5.99 (480 Microsoft points) for the pack, $0.99 (80 Microsoft points) each
  1. "Runnin’ Wild" by Airbourne 
  2. "Clouds Over California" by DevilDriver 
  3. "Constant Motion" by Dream Theater
  4. "My Curse" by Killswitch Engage
  5. "Aesthetics Of Hate" by Machine Head

The RoadRunner 6 Pack is available now both at the Xbox Live! Marketplace and PLAYSTATION Store. 

NOTE: According to the official Rock Band forums, developer HMXHenry has announced that the following prices are promotional for this month. Next month, each track will shoot up to $1.99 each (160 Microsoft points) and $9.99 (800 Microsoft points) for the whole pack.

Interscope Track Pack Hits PS3/360 Guitar Hero III Today


The Interscope Track Pack for Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock (PS3/360) is available now at the Xbox Live! Marketplace and PLAYSTATION Store. It consists of the following:
  • "Tina" by Flyleaf
  • "Carcinogen Crush" by AFI
  • "Putting Holes In Happiness" by Yeah Yeah Yeahs (Nick Zinner's remix of the Marilyn Manson original)
No confirmation on whether the aforementioned tracks are covers or masters nor pricing details were revealed during the announcement.

Dragonforce DLC Pack Coming to Guitar Hero 3

Let's face it. Dragonforce's "Through the Fire and Flames" was THE hardest song originally available on Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. If you're itching for more from the band, mark your calendars for August 21st.

1UP has reported that a new Dragonforce DLC Pack will be available on Thursday, August 21st. The band's record label, RoadRunner Records, has revealed the master tracks for the Dragonforce DLC Pack:
  • "Heroes of Our Time", the first single off the band's new album Ultra Beatdown)
  • "Operation Ground and Pound"
  • "Revolution Deathsquad"
No details on pricing...yet. We'll keep you posted!

Ninja Gaiden II Mission Mode Available Now

According to Gamerscore Blog, new downloadable content for Ninja Gaiden II has just released today. Dubbed Mission Mode, this new DLC consists of 25 brand new missions broken up into 2 distinct sets - survival missions and karma missions. Survival missions challenge gamers to bulldoze through swarms of enemies with one single weapon, while Karma missions require gamers to acheive the highest possible score. For you "acheivement whores", 10 new acheivements will be waiting to be unlocked in Mission Mode! The Ninja Gaiden II Mission Mode will run for 800 Microsoft points.

Tonight's New GH III DLC: Satriani & Vai

GameSpot reports that Activision will release the "Virtuoso Pack" for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 version of Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. The "Virtuoso Pack" includes:
  • "Surfing with the Alien" by Joe Satriani (shown right)
  • "For the Love of God" by Steve Vai
  • "Soothsayer" by Buckethead
The "Virtuoso Pack" will be available tonight at the Xbox Live! Marketplace and PLAYSTATION Store.

Activision did not announce pricing nor did they confirm whether or not these songs are covers or master tracks.
I guess we'll find out tonight. Rock on!

Nine Inch Nails on Rock Band This Week

Harmonix has released a new Nine Inch Nails pack and two tracks from the band Shinedown for this week's Rock band downloadable content. Kotaku has provided the official details:

Nine Inch Nails 3-pack - $5.49 or 440 Microsoft Points
  • “Burn”
  • “Capital G”
  • “Last”

Shinedown - $1.99 or 160 Microsoft Points each

  • “Devour”
  • “Junkies For Fame”
These tracks are available now on the Xbox Live! Marketplace and will be released at the PLAYSTATION Store on Thursday.

E308: Upcoming Metallica album as new DLC for Guitar Hero

Red Octane's Kai Huang announced yesterday that new Metallica DLC will be available for Guitar Hero III in celebration of the bands upcoming album, Death Magnetic. On their official site, the band informed fans that the entire album will be available as downloadable content for Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock.
"It's a first in both music and gaming . . . the same day that 'Death Magnetic' hits the streets, you'll be able to download every song from the album for "Guitar Hero III!'"
Metallica has also stated (on their site) that Death Magnetic will be available in Red Octane's upcoming Guitar Hero: World Tour, but no further details have been revealed.

Madden 09 Soundtrack Coming to Rock Band

According to Reuters, Electronic Arts signed a deal with MTV to have the entire soundtrack from Madden NFL 09 be available as downloadable content for Rock Band.
"Under the deal, 'Rock Band' will feature music from the 'Madden 09' soundtrack in its weekly downloadable songs update, a handful at a time, over several weeks, with each song carrying the 'Madden' brand. Additionally, each soundtrack song will be available for sale via iTunes as part of a special 'Madden' playlist."
Reader Max provided gaming site Kotaku with the track list, noting that two songs from the list are already available as Rock Band DLC: "Hammerhead" by The Offspring and "Inside the Fire" by Disturbed.

Metal Gear Online "Gene Expansion" Details

Konami has just spilled the beans about the first Metal Gear Online expansion dubbed the "Gene Expansion". The expansion will add a Rewards Shop to spend your in-game points on new gear, three new maps, the ability to play as female characters, a new "Survival" mode and two new playable playable characters: Meryl Silverberg and Johnny "Akiba". Too Human Demo on Xbox Live! Next Week

IGN reports that Silicon Knights will be releasing a long-awaited demo of Too Human on Xbox Live! sometime next week. The demo will be one of many special downloadable goodies coming from Xbox Live! as part of Microsoft's "Bringing It Home" E3 campaign.

Rock Band DLC features Red Hot Chili Peppers & Rush This Week


This week's DLC is half Red Hot Chili Peppers and half Rush, including a re-release of Rush's "Working Man". The Vault Edition is and
unreleased master track featuring an alternate solo. Anyway, here's the rundown straight from the official Rock Band forums:
  • Red Hot Chili Peppers - Snow (Hey Oh)
  • Red Hot Chili Peppers - Tell Me Baby
  • Rush - Closer to the Heart
  • Rush - Working Man (Vault Edition) alternate-take master
Each master track will be 160 Microsoft Points ($1.99) a pop. They'll be available on the Xbox Live! Marketplace this Tuesday (July 8th) and on the PLAYSTATION Store the following Thursday (July 10th).

Free Halo 3 Map "Cold Storage" on XBLA



In celebration of Bungie Day (July 7th), a new Halo 3 map called "Cold Storage" will be available for free on the Xbox Live! Marketplace this Monday. In addition to the free Halo 3 map, free gamerpics and a gratis theme will also be available [only] on that day. The guys at Bungie will also be dropping the price of the Legendary Map Pack from 800 Microsoft points to 600 Microsoft points.

Ninja Gaiden II Outfits Available Now!

Ninja Gaiden II fans should head on over to the Xbox Live! Marketplace immediately. Tecmo has released three outfit packs for Ryu Hayabusa: "Demon", "Biometal" and "Shadow Walker". Each pack contains five costume variations of the pack's theme. They are available now at teh Xbox Live! Market place for 200 Microsoft points ($2.50) for each Ninja Gaiden II outfit pack.

Burnout Paradise PS3 "Cagney" update set for July 10th

Criterion Games' Burnout Paradise designer Simon Phipps posted on the official PlayStation.Blog on Monday, stating that the all-new "Cagney" update will be arriving to the PlayStation 3 version of Burnout Paradise on July 10th. The "Cagney" update will include 3 new online game modes, 70 new online challenges (holy sh*t!), new vehicles (including the Hunter Olympus pictured above), major improvements to the ranked racing system, support for custom soundtracks, and a lot more. Weezer DLC on Rock Band This Week

Attention Weezer fans! At the official Rock Band forums, Harmonix developer HMXJohnlock has announced that they will be releasing the following three tracks from the Red Album for this week's Rock Band downloadbable content.:
  • "Dreamin'" (Master)
  • "The Greatest Man That Ever Lived" (Master)
  • "Troublemaker" (Master)
Weezer Pack 01 will be available $5.49 (440 Microsoft Points) or you can purchase each song individually for $1.99 (or 160 Microsoft Points). It will be available on Tuesday at the Xbox Live! Marketplace and and on Thursday for the PLAYSTATION Store.

Coldplay DLC on Guitar Hero III This Week

In celebration of their new album release, Activision will release a Coldplay Track Pack on Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. The pack will include "Violet Hill" from their new album, Viva La Vida and two older tracks, "Yellow" from Parachutes and "God Put a Smile Upon Your Face" from A Rush of Blood to the Head. The Coldplay Track Pack will be available on Xbox Live! and te PLAYSTATION Store on Thursday, June 19th. No details on pricing (yet).

PLAYSTATION Store Releases Free Exclusive God of War Track for Guitar Hero III

This week's PLAYSTATION Store update includes a free exclusive God of War track for the PlayStation 3 version of Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. This is a remixed version of the God of War theme song, created especially for Guitar Hero III! Rock on!

Disturbed's Indestructible on Rock Band This Week!

This past week's DLC for Rock Band is celebrating the release of Disturbed's new album, Indestructible. According the official Rock Band boards, Harmonix released the Disturbed Pack 1 for $2.99 (240 Microsoft points). This pack includes three new singles from the album: "Perfect Insanity", "Inside the Fire", and "Indestructible". Each song can be purchased individually for only $0.99 (80 Microsoft points). 360 owners who pre-ordered the album at Best Buy, already received these tracks as a bonus for their pre-order. As for PS3 owners, we gotta pay for 'em. Blah.
