Seiken Densetsu 3: An excellent "Mana" series game that was a Japan-only release

Seiken Densetsu 3 (Legend of the Holy Sword 3) is an excellent game made by Squaresoft for the SNES system. It was released in September of 1995. The game features 6 playable characters with their own unique abilities, though you can only pick three to use. Depending on the character you pick as your main, you will go through one of three scenarios (Each scenario is shared by two different characters). However no matter which character you choose, the ultimate objective is essentially the same.

Unlike the turn-based RPGs of yore, this game uses a real-time combat system. When entering an area infested with enemies, your character draws out his/her weapon and focuses on the battle, though it is possible to escape by moving far enough out of the vicinity (a feature which Legend of Mana lacked). You have the standard attack, a weapon tech (which can be used after the bar like "meter" fills up), Items, and special moves (both accessed by a ring like menu which is summoned by a single button press).

This game is one of the better games for the Super Nintendo (and that really is saying a lot!). Yet another gem to add to the list of games that should have been released here but shouldn't. Such were the days that gaming was reserved for "nerds" and the so-called "cool kids" didn't want any part of it... Oh, and Final Fantasy being the only widely accepted RPG at the time (in America) didn't help.

A warning: if you play this game (and you should!), bear in mind that though you meet up with your 3 party members as the story progresses, you must choose all 3 when starting a new file. Just saying, is all.
