So I just recently beat Chrono Trigger on the DS (I started playing back in 08) So I've decided to continue my RPG streak by playing other games that I was interested in finishing-Among these "Summer RPGS" are-Dragon Quest VI,IX Final Fantasy IV,V,VIII-and that's it for now. Knowing the kind of gamer I am-I probably wont finish even half of these-but I can dream eh?

Anyways, I started playing Final Fantasy VIII again(last time my hard drive crashed and I lost my data) I'm not above using Gamefaqs for help(hell that's how I got through the latter half of Chrono Trigger) if it means I'll make it to the end then so be it-

The Burn out

So anyway its been sometime since my last post(nothing new here) but some things have happened lately that I simply must let my avid fans know-

My Wii no longer works-Yes my rock,my Texas,my Kilimanjaro the one system that I would bet on to out last all others...died in December of 2010--I plan on sending it in to Nintendo at some point(as soon as I acquire some moar funds) but gods only know when ill find the time to send it in to Nintendo for repairs.

Problem 2: My 360 red ringed-Now I kinda knew this was coming at some point but after losing the wii this was just another annoyance that didn't help my situation..luckily theres a place in the bronx that does 360 repairs for around $30 bones so I'll try and head out there ASAP

Final Stage: Sony is about to pan my psn account-yes..yes I jumped on the jailbreaking wagon and managed to snag some free shit... unfortunately skynet/sony caught wind and sent my thieving ass an email effectively telling me to get rid of my free shiznit or face a ban..normally I would be all "Fuck off Sony" but with the Wii out of commission and the 360 living in the 3 ring hell I must admit I'm scared out of my mind to just turn on my ps3.....

anyways that's a quick update..I need to finish some project for forensics.."grumbles"

The Last Story

Pretty awesome trailer for an upcoming game by Mystwalker-for me new RPG's are always welcome and I think we all need a change of pace from the shooter overload we've all had to deal with these past few months.

The Game Professor is Back at Bayside High

So in recent news I just picked up two Xbox360 games on the cheap...Yes I said two games, anyway I picked up "Deadly Premonition" and "Chrome Hounds". In regards toDeadly Premonitions I've heard all sorts of things from it being a "Terrible Game" with PS2 graphics to just being "meh" to people looooving their experiences playing it. So I decided to give the game a shot and picked it up this past week at my local Gamestop(BOO HIISS!). I'll get into my experience with Deadly Premonition at a later date.
With Chrome Hounds however, I'm heavily disappointed in my self for not getting an Xbx360 earlier (I've had mine for 2 years or so now) anyone that knows me knows about how much of a mecha fanatic I am. Chrome Hounds, when I first saw it,looked like a terrible Mechwarrior clone on a console I despised(ok the real reason is that I hated the 360 and refused to believe that any game on it could be good...) boy was I an ass-now here I am years later with a game that many claimed to have had the best online experience with ever and I'll probably never get the chance to show em my piloting skillz online(The servers have been shut down for several month). Oh well more on that and my failure as a mech commander later!

Metal Gear Writer Decries Emo Japanese protagonists.

Etsu Tamari a writer for the famous Metal Gear Series had a bone to pick with Japan's over reliance on using sissy boy characters as heroes in Japanese RPGs here's what the man had to say..

“Why are JRPG heroes always teenage boys worried about why they are fighting?”

I’ve been considering this, and I really think it’s because in today’s Japan there is no ideal of a “cool adult man.”

In works based on a shonen [boy] protagonist it’s fine to use them if they are done well, but in both reality and in fiction the “cool man” has mostly disappeared. The generations reared without ever seeing them can’t envision these men either.

I get the impression this vicious circle has indeed become something of a problem.

As a scenario writer myself, I’d like to do what I can to change this by creating new images of heroes."

(Quote from Sangaku Complex you can read the original piece HERE )

So even some of the people who work in the Japanese game industry themselves are getting tired of seeing characters like Cloud,Squall or anyone else you could think of from a JRPG that's in need of manly slap across the face to set them back on course. This seems to be a common complaint from gamers in the west and it's interesting to see that sentiment somewhat echoed back from the East.
