This next article comes courtesy of our freelance writer Sami, who has taken it upon herself to take a look up the upcoming Survival horror Fatal Frame IV for Nintendo Wii.
The main heroine of the game is Ruka Minazuki, a 17-year-old-girl who spends her days resembling Mio Amakura and playing the piano. 10 years prior to the game, Ruka and 4 other girls were kidnapped and brought to Rougetsu island (which she apparently is a native of...) Since then, 2 of the 5 girls have died. Somewhere between being rescued and the present day, she lost her memories of what had happened on the island (Don't you HATE it when that happens?) Now she has returned to Rougetsu in search of her lost memories. Along with Ruka, there are three other playable characters. Misaki Asou, Madoka Tsukimori and Choushiro Kirishima. Misaki is, from her description, a 'strong willed girl who has to have her way' (see: spoiled b!tch) along with Misaki is another girl named Madoka Tsukimori. She's timid and is only in this mess because Madoka convinces her to go with her. I'm sure these two will make a great pairing in many upcoming horribly written fan-fictions. Misaki and Madoka are apparently 2 of the girls kidnapped with Ruka 10 years ago and it isn't quite clear whether or not they know about what happened. The last character is Choushiro. From his description, he is an investigator who rescued Ruka and the other girls. From his picture, he looks as though he hasn't shaved in a while and resembles a Japanese version of Bono. His goal in the game is to find Ruka on Rougetsu island...AGAIN, and bring her back safely.
As for theme aspects of the game, the main color is yellow. But not the good kind of yellow, the "is this milk still good?" kind of yellow. Its very dreary and kind of a gold-ish color. The main words of the game will be 'Memory', 'Mask', and 'Moon'. Nothing has been said about the new (?) camera, or if it's even a new model of the camera.
Thats all I have so far folks. The Japanese release date of Fatal Frame IV: Mask of the Lunar eclipse is July 31st 2008. There has yet to be any announcement on the US and Europe dates.
A trailer has just been released on the Wii. If you don't own a Wii, you can check out the trailer here:
