At the E3's Sony press conference, SCEA president Jack Tretton announced the upcoming release of the Sony PlayStation 3 80GB "Core Pack". Retailing at $399.99, Kotaku has speculated that this new SKU will replace the 40GB model and may be the ONLY PlayStation 3 on the market. This site also believes this new 80GB SKU will not feature any backwords compatibilty whatsoever (unlike the limited MGs4 80GB SKU).
